Twins option Royce Lewis to minors and place Ryan Jeffers on injured list

The Minnesota Twins made major roster changes Tuesday after losing catcher Ryan Jeffers to a fractured left hamate bone and optioning infielder Royce Lewis to Triple-A.

Ryan Jeffers is headed to the injured list following surgery scheduled for Wednesday. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks after fouling a ball off his hand late in Monday's game. Jeffers had been hitting .295 with seven home runs this season.
