Two bodies found in Cuetzalan cave after underground river rises

Puebla Civil Protection confirmed the discovery of two bodies in the Gruta de Chichicazapan in Cuetzalan, where three people were trapped by heavy rains.

Rescue efforts lasted three days in the area. Two of the three sought individuals were found dead inside the cave due to the rising of an underground river.

The Civil Protection Directorate stated that extraction maneuvers were complicated by weather and terrain conditions. They are expected to take place early Saturday morning.

The bodies have not yet been identified. The State Attorney General's Office will carry out the corresponding procedures while searches continue for the third missing person.
