A startup spun out of Meiji University announced plans for clinical trials of pig-to-human kidney transplants at two Japanese hospitals in 2028. The company aims to secure production and marketing authorization once safety is confirmed.

PorMedTec, the startup, stated that the trials will take place in 2028 to evaluate the safety of the transplants.
