Wolff says Vasseur misunderstood Ferrari upgrades comments

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff described Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur as very emotional after the pair exchanged words over upgrade timelines in the 2026 Formula 1 season.

The exchange began last weekend in Austria when Wolff expressed surprise at Ferrari’s ability to introduce multiple large updates throughout the year.

Vasseur responded on Friday at Silverstone, accusing Wolff of implying Ferrari had breached the cost cap.

After qualifying for the British Grand Prix, where Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli took pole, Wolff told Sky Sports that Vasseur had taken the remarks out of context.

Vasseur later confirmed the two would speak during the summer break that starts after the races in Silverstone, Spa and Budapest.
