Hijra bank has made the first zakat donation in the history of Ethiopia's financial institutions to the zakat and waqf commission. The event took place under the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council. The donation comes from the bank's 2017 annual profit.

Indonesia's National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) has clarified that funds from Zakat, Infak, and Sedekah (ZIS) collected from the public are not used to finance the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG).
