Emergency Medical Services (EMS) spokesperson Ian Winterboer confirmed the patient had gone into cardiac arrest. “Midlands EMS received multiple calls of a patient that had collapsed at the Nelson Mandela capture site, on arrival paramedics noted that bystanders had already begun a CPR process. Paramedics took over the CPR and despite all efforts, the patient was declared deceased on the scene,” Winterboer said.
EMS responded after receiving several calls about the incident.
