AC Milan have appointed Ruben Amorim as head coach on a two-year contract with an option for a third year. The 41-year-old Portuguese coach replaces Max Allegri at San Siro.
Amorim returns to management after being sacked by Manchester United in January. He spent 14 months at Old Trafford following a successful spell at Sporting CP, where he ended the club's 19-year title drought in 2020-21 and won again in 2023-24.
Milan finished fifth in Serie A last season. The club owners RedBird Capital Partners said they had tracked Amorim for years and were impressed by his style of play.
Amorim told the club's website: “There are ambitions that stay with you throughout your career, and coaching AC Milan has always been one of mine.” Managing partner Gerry Cardinale added that Amorim's philosophy aligns with the club's vision for high-press attacking football.
