Spain's State Meteorological Agency has activated an extraordinary danger warning for temperatures reaching 42 degrees Celsius this Wednesday in parts of Zaragoza and Valencia.
The red warning focuses on the Ribera del Ebro in Zaragoza and the northern interior and southern coast of Valencia. Maximum temperatures are expected between 13.00 and 20.00 hours.
Much of the southeastern peninsula, inland Catalunya and most of Aragón will be under an orange warning for important danger, with values close to 40 degrees.
AEMET has activated heat warnings across nearly the entire country for Tuesday, with values above 35 degrees in the Balearic Islands and wide areas of the centre, south and east of the peninsula.
The agency warns of another hot spell from next weekend, which could bring temperatures up to 42 degrees in some low-lying areas and valleys.
