This initiative, guided by the theme “Creative and Sustainable Financing for Maternal Health,” culminated in a drawing competition in Gondar town to mark the end of Maternal Health Month.

Alternative services for mothers are now available in 322 health institutions, while 37 health centers offer mothers' waiting home services. To address mortality from postpartum hemorrhage, partnerships with blood banks have led to the collection of 44,000 units of blood over six months.

Bertukan Sisay, head of the Regional Women, Children and Social Affairs Bureau, noted that comprehensive counseling is being delivered from prenatal to postnatal periods to prevent maternal deaths. These efforts represent key steps in safeguarding maternal well-being in the region.
