Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick Broderick Jones is facing doubts about his role heading into his fourth season. Analysts Steve Palazzolo and Sam Monson said his performance has not met expectations since the team traded up to select him 14th overall in 2023.
The comments came during a recent episode of the Check the Mic podcast. Palazzolo noted Jones has struggled in pass protection and been only average as a run blocker after playing both tackle positions.
Jones suffered a neck injury in Week 12 last season against the Chicago Bears and missed the remainder of the year. The Steelers declined his fifth-year option this offseason, leaving him with one year remaining on his contract.
In the 2026 draft the team selected offensive tackle Max Iheanachor in the first round. Troy Fautanu is expected to occupy one starting tackle spot, further limiting Jones’ opportunities.
