Bancamía recently announced the achievement of corporate carbon neutrality certification under the international ISO 14068-1:2023 standard. This accreditation was granted by Bureau Veritas Colombia, which verified compliance with the standard's principles and requirements. The financial entity, dedicated to supporting micro-entrepreneurs, emphasized that this accomplishment demonstrates technical rigor in calculating its carbon footprint and dedication to decarbonizing activities.

Viviana Araque Mendoza, executive president of Bancamía, stated: "Obtaining this certification reaffirms that our commitment to sustainability is measurable, rigorous, and aligned with global standards that allow us to chart a course of work to generate real impacts." According to the provided information, Bancamía is the first bank in Colombia and the second company in the country to receive this specific certification from Bureau Veritas. Additionally, its greenhouse gas emissions inventory was validated under the ISO 14064-1 standard, using an appropriate methodology.

Bancamía's climate strategy integrates emission reduction measures with compensations that promote biodiversity protection and support for vulnerable communities. Araque Mendoza added: "At Bancamía, we understand that boosting the productive development of micro-entrepreneurs must go hand in hand with caring for the planet; therefore, our climate strategy integrates concrete actions to reduce emissions with compensation that generates social value." This progress positions the institution as a leader in sustainable practices within Colombia's banking sector, aligning with global climate change mitigation goals.

The announcement comes amid a context where more than 1.5 million people hold savings products with Bancamía, underscoring its impact on productive development, particularly in Bogotá.
