FILBO 2026 closes with 563,000 visitors

The 38th Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBO 2026), which opened on April 21 with India as Guest Country of Honor and Boyacá as Guest Region of Honor under the motto “Escucharnos es leernos,” concluded on May 4 at Corferias with 563,000 visitors over 14 days. The event featured 433 authors from 25 countries and 566 exhibitors from 30 countries.

Over 220,000 people attended 2,300 activities across 22 halls and other spaces in Bogotá and eight cities. Programming spanned science, history, inclusion, poetry, and environment, including 270 book signings with over 9,500 attendees.

India's pavilion drew nearly 300,000 visitors, hosting 35 authors, 105 events, and 13,600 book sales. Boyacá organized 117 events for more than 13,000 attendees. Children's programming attracted 52,500 students; the Rafael Pombo Pavilion welcomed 83,248 people, and McDonald’s hosted 300 events for over 50,000.

Inclusion efforts included 50 events for people with disabilities and seniors, using Colombian Sign Language, 300 Braille maps, and easy-read content. The International Business Salon facilitated US$4 million in projected deals through 1,246 meetings with 30 buyers and 159 exhibitors.

The fair extended to 89 events in Bogotá (3,500 attendees) and eight in other cities. The Ministry of Cultures ran 300 events, distributed 26,000 free titles, and drew 105,000 visitors. Highlights included Universidad de los Andes’ “Escuchar de otra manera” and “Macondo York” exhibitions. Spanning 60,000 m² and 718 stands, FILBO reinforced its role in cultural diversity and inclusion.
