Filbo implements accessibility tools for visual impairment

The Bogotá International Book Fair 2026 strengthens its inclusion efforts with haptic maps and immersive audio descriptions for people with visual impairments. The initiative stems from a partnership between the National Institute for the Blind (Inci), the Colombian Book Chamber, and the Saldarriaga Concha Foundation. The tools aim to ensure full access to information and culture at the Corferias venue.

The Bogotá International Book Fair 2026, known as Filbo, establishes itself as a benchmark for cultural inclusion in Colombia with tools designed for people with visual impairments. The National Institute for the Blind (Inci) leads this strategy in partnership with the Colombian Book Chamber and the Saldarriaga Concha Foundation, transforming the experience at Corferias.

Haptic maps enable touch-based exploration of the space, helping visitors locate themselves, identify pavilions, and key points. This supports safer and more independent navigation.

The immersive audio description system provides over 300 audios and 40 musical interludes on Inci's digital platform. It details spaces, entrances, exits, services, food areas, and bathrooms, allowing full orientation through sound.

The initiative elevates accessibility to an essential component, fostering equality and active participation in cultural events. Filbo thus celebrates diversity, creating equitable spaces without sensory barriers.
