Overnight into Tuesday, April 1, 2026, a person broke into the garage at Jimmie Åkesson's home in Sölvesborg, according to reports to Aftonbladet. The SD leader confronted the perpetrator himself.
Sweden's Security Service (Säpo) confirms an ongoing preliminary investigation. "We are conducting a preliminary investigation linked to one of our protected persons," says Gabriel Wernstedt, Säpo press secretary, to SVT Nyheter. Wernstedt tells Expressen: "We are investigating suspected crimes linked to one of our protected persons."
According to reports to TV4 Nyheterna, protection officers left Åkesson alone briefly, but Säpo does not comment on protection details. No one is currently in custody.
Jimmie Åkesson has declined to comment on the incident, as has Sverigedemokraternas press chief Oskar Cavalli-Björkman.
