Brothers Luigi and Julius sell rabbit droppings as fertilizer in Borlänge

In Borlänge, 7-year-old Luigi Berglund and his 5-year-old brother Julius have started a business selling rabbit droppings as fertilizer. A Facebook post has led to a three-week waiting list for orders. The family's rabbits Blomma and Semla produce the product.

Seven-year-old Luigi Berglund in Borlänge saw a business opportunity with the family's pets. Along with his 5-year-old brother Julius, they now sell droppings from rabbits Blomma and Semla as fertilizer for home growers.

Their mother Valentina Ioculano says a Facebook post quickly brought in orders. "We posted on Facebook and orders just kept coming. Now we have a three-week waiting list," she says. The rabbit hutch is cleaner than ever thanks to the brothers' efforts.

Luigi heads straight to the hutch after school to tend to it. "Directly when I get home from school, I go there," he says. He has previously sold berries and mushrooms to neighbors and relatives.

The family uses the fertilizer themselves in a rabbit compost for their plants. Gardening expert Sara Bäckmo confirms it works well. "It's great because it's a mild fertilizer, so you can't over-fertilize," she says.

Valentina Ioculano also notes the hutch's cleanliness. "We have an incredibly clean rabbit hutch now," she says.
