California woman pleads guilty to spying on ex-husband with Ring cameras

Rayna Bell admitted to secretly accessing her ex-husband's Ring security system and livestreaming more than 700 hours of footage from inside his California home. She pleaded guilty last week to a misdemeanor eavesdropping charge.

Court records show Bell linked the cameras to six Amazon Alexa devices registered in her name. The access occurred over two months last year and captured private moments including breastfeeding and children's nudity.

The ex-husband's restraining order request detailed how Bell viewed an average of 12 hours of footage daily. It also alleged she recorded confidential conversations about finances, medical records and Social Security numbers.

As part of the plea deal, Bell must pay restitution, serve one day in custody with credit for time served, and complete one year of probation. Her ex-husband said he intends to pursue civil claims against her.

The couple's children and the man's fiancée were also recorded during the unauthorized access, according to the documents.
