Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress will close on July 6 for a comprehensive renovation at Magic Kingdom. The attraction is scheduled to reopen in 2027 with new scenes and a Walt Disney animatronic figure.
The ride, which has operated in Tomorrowland since 1975, will receive its first major update in decades. Act 1 will begin in the 1960s, followed by scenes set in the 1980s and 1990s, ending with a future segment.
A rotating theater format requires safety measures that pause the show if guests leave early. Recent online discussions have noted more frequent interruptions from visitors exiting mid-performance.
Social media has raised the possibility of adding seat belts, though Disney has not confirmed any such plans. The long closure period could allow time for seating modifications if needed.
