Carter Faith discovered during a trip overseas that her debut album Cherry Valley had been named a finalist for album of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards. The nomination came despite her not qualifying for the new female artist category under ACM rules.
Faith recorded a version of Faith Hill’s “Let’s Go to Vegas” for Amazon to promote the ACM Awards’ return to Nevada. She delayed a flight to Europe to complete the track after feeling a personal connection to the song due to the shared Faith name with her musical hero. The album explores themes of sex, drugs, religion, hypocrisy and alcohol across folk, honky-tonk and pop styles, and was produced with a consistent studio band to maintain cohesion.
