Chile sends second humanitarian aid shipment to Bolivia

A second plane carrying six tons of essential supplies departed Chile for La Paz on June 13 amid road blockades affecting supplies in Bolivia.

The flight took off at 10 a.m. and was coordinated by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, National Defense and Interior, along with the Chilean Air Force. This shipment adds to the one sent in May that included 480 boxes of food.

Road blockades have lasted more than a month in various parts of the country. The protesters, workers and peasants linked to former President Evo Morales, demand the resignation of President Rodrigo Paz over the economic crisis.

Chancellor Francisco Pérez Mackenna said: “We will continue to help the Bolivian Government and the Bolivian people in this situation. Chile will always support neighboring and friendly countries that require our cooperation.”
