Cirque du Soleil premieres LUDÕ in Nuevo Nayarit

On December 12, 2025, Cirque du Soleil and Grupo Vidanta inaugurated LUDÕ, an immersive aquatic show at Vidanta World in Nuevo Nayarit. This unique production surrounds the audience with an aquarium and redefines luxury entertainment in Mexico. Officials highlighted its economic and cultural impact for the country.

The world premiere of LUDÕ took place on December 12, 2025, at the Vidanta World complex in Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico. The event featured federal Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora and Nayarit Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, who emphasized its role in positioning Nayarit as a world-class destination.

Directed by Michel Laprise, LUDÕ features 45 artists in an aquatic universe evoking childhood, family, and creativity. The theater, inspired by a 27-meter-high lotus flower, provides a 360-degree immersive experience for nearly 700 guests, preceded by a three-course dinner from VidantaWorld.

Laprise explained in an interview: “The biggest challenge was the aquarium around the audience. It had never been done before. There were no manuals, no references. We had to invent everything.” The idea emerged three years ago, after rejecting the proposal three times, seeking something special beyond the Las Vegas aquatic show.

Daniel Lamarre, executive vice president of Cirque du Soleil, and Gabriel de Alba, co-chairman, highlighted its uniqueness: “In Mexico, we achieved something that has not been done anywhere else in the world. It doesn't exist in Las Vegas, it doesn't exist in London, it doesn't exist in Asia or the Middle East. It only exists here.”

This second resident production in Latin America, after JOYÀ in the Riviera Maya, integrates acrobatics, poetic narrative, technology, and gastronomy. Officials delivered the operating license, noting benefits such as investment, jobs, and global projection for Mexico.
