Delhi Government to introduce Land Records Bill

The Delhi Government is preparing a new bill to establish consolidated digital records for all properties in the city, the Chief Minister’s Office announced on Thursday.

The proposed Delhi Land Records Bill, 2026, aims to assign every property a unique Property Aadhaar Card after a scientific survey. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the system will improve transparency and reduce disputes over ownership, transactions, and inheritance.

The bill will not be introduced in the current Monsoon Session. A special session is likely to be called later. In the initial phase, smart property cards were created for 30 rural villages under the SVAMITVA scheme using drone surveys.

The project will now cover the entire National Capital Territory, including urban residential and commercial buildings. Records will be prepared for every floor of each structure.
