Delhi Metro shuts 16 stations for second day amid Jantar Mantar protests

For the second consecutive day, Delhi Metro closed 16 stations near Jantar Mantar on Thursday as CJP supporters protested there. Commuters resorted to buses and walking to reach their destinations.

The closures affected stations around Central Delhi in the vicinity of the protest site. Nazir Khan, who travels daily from Bhalswa Dairy to the Australian High Commission for his job of capturing monkeys, was redirected to Dilli Haat-INA station after his usual stop at Lok Kalyan Marg was shut.

Khan said his shift involves handling 10 to 12 monkeys each day for four hours. The station closures forced him and others to find alternative transport options.

The Metro operator cited the ongoing demonstrations by CJP supporters at Jantar Mantar as the reason for keeping the stations closed.
