Egypt's agriculture ministry issues 1,165 project licences in December 2025

Egypt's Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation issued approximately 1,165 operating licences in December 2025, covering renewals and initial approvals for livestock production, feed manufacturing, poultry activities, and milk collection centres. The announcement came in a report by Tarek Soliman, head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, to Minister Alaa Farouk. These licences aim to support small breeders while adhering to biosecurity standards.

The ministry reported issuing around 312 permits in December to allow small breeders to participate in livestock rearing activities, fully complying with biosecurity and animal safety requirements. These measures were carried out in coordination with the General Authority for Veterinary Services to ensure health and safety standards within and around livestock projects.

The ministry also approved registrations for 654 feed mixtures, additives, and concentrates, including 415 locally produced and 239 imported products. All approvals followed scientific standards, regulatory controls, and national specifications. Additionally, 91 technical approvals were granted for new poultry production projects, aligning with preventive distancing and biosecurity standards in desert hinterland areas.

Technical support was provided, and homogeneity tests were conducted for 36 poultry, livestock, and fish feed factories across several governorates, in cooperation with the Regional Centre for Food and Feed and relevant agricultural directorates. This forms part of preparations for issuing operating licences and improving production efficiency.

Soliman explained that applications for mechanised operating licences for livestock, poultry, and feed activities can be submitted through digital platforms, including the ministry's official website, the Digital Egypt platform, and government service mobile applications. The goal is to simplify procedures and speed up electronic licensing and sector services.

He emphasized ongoing coordination with supervisory bodies and the implementation of intensive, unannounced inspection campaigns on feed factories, warehouses, and raw material storage facilities nationwide. These aim to detect stockpiling or withholding to manipulate prices, ensure market-available feed products match ministry-approved registrations, and verify production in licensed facilities. Legal measures will be taken against violators.
