Ethiopia prints 4 million new vehicle license plates

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics announced that 4 million new vehicle plates are being printed. Distribution of the plates began today in Addis Ababa.

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics stated that the new plates meet various security requirements. Advisor to the Minister Assefa Hadis said the plates are uniform and comply with international standards.

Prices differ according to vehicle type, with subsidies provided for electric vehicles and mass transport. The plates feature QR codes and microchips.

Addis Ababa has 800,000 vehicles registered in the system.
