Bethesda Game Studios will start public testing of native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Fallout 76 in June. The upgrades include improved graphics and performance targets. A full release is planned for later this summer if testing succeeds.
The testing phase begins this month and is open to all owners of Fallout 76. Players can download the test versions directly from the respective console stores. Key improvements target 60 frames per second, enhanced draw distances and shadows, plus 4K resolution on Xbox Series X, Xbox One X and PS5 Pro. Variable refresh rate support is included on compatible displays. Base PS5 models are limited to 1440p while Xbox Series S targets 1080p. Crossplay features remain under consideration with no commitments made yet. Save data compatibility has not been detailed but existing characters are expected to carry over without changes to the game's core structure.
