Fedora retires deepin packages over security and maintenance issues

Fedora's Engineering Steering Committee has voted to remove all Deepin-related packages from the distribution's repositories. The decision follows prolonged maintenance failures and security concerns raised earlier by openSUSE.

The committee approved the retirement with a unanimous 7-0 vote during its May 19 meeting. Release engineering was instructed not to restore the packages without a fresh review process.

The upcoming Ubuntu 26.04 LTS release links to release notes for nine official flavors instead of the previous ten. Ubuntu MATE is absent from the list amid maintainer challenges. Developers argue that a smaller lineup strengthens the distribution's focus and sustainability.
