Fernández Noroña challenges US to draw up lists of politicians linked to drug cartels

Senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña challenged the United States to publish lists of Mexican politicians with alleged ties to organized crime, following a meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum and Morena legislators.

Noroña stated that Mexico will not bow to external pressures or allow a government to be imposed from abroad. He highlighted the defense of national sovereignty, independence and social justice as central points discussed in the meeting.

The statements come after United States accusations against Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya and nine other officials for alleged links to the Sinaloa Cartel, including Senator Enrique Inzunza.

Noroña noted that legislators may go out into the field to explain the government's position on these accusations. He stressed that there will be no return to political projects defeated at the polls in 2018 and 2024.
