Sven Otto Littorin was heading out shopping with his mops Gösta when a Boerboel dog attacked. His wife Thérèse intervened to free the dog.
Former labor minister Sven Otto Littorin (M) encountered a dog walker with two large Boerboel dogs outside the gate on Saturday. One of the dogs, a male, grabbed Gösta by the head.
Littorin and the dog walker tried to free the mops without success. Eventually his wife Thérèse came out and kicked and scratched at the attacking dog's eyes, causing it to let go.
Gösta sustained a wound to the cheek but was treated at an animal hospital and is doing well under the circumstances. The dog owner and walker have taken responsibility and visited the family with roses.
