The revival, which reunited the Wilkerson family for a story spanning four episodes, originally began as a movie script, according to Muniz. He told TVLine that the intention was always a single storyline, not a test for a full series. 'I'll say this: I would love to be Malcolm again,' Muniz said. 'If people love it, maybe.'
