Fox has renewed its crime procedural Murder in a Small Town for a third season. The network also announced that actor Peter Gallagher will join the cast as a series regular. The decision follows the show's strong performance in its first two seasons.
The renewal was announced Thursday by Fox executives. Based on novels by L.R. Wright, the series stars Rossif Sutherland as Karl Alberg, a former big-city officer who becomes police chief in the coastal town of Gibsons. He balances his relationship with librarian Cassandra Lee, played by Kristin Kreuk, amid ongoing murder investigations in the community.
