The death toll from the disaster has risen to 1,129 as of December 24, 2025, per National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) data, up from 1,006 reported earlier this month. Severe impacts persist in areas like Desa Batu Bedulang in Aceh Tamiang, where road access for four-wheeled vehicles was restored only on December 21 after 29 days.
On December 24, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf announced the BLT breakdown: Rp3 million for home repairs and Rp5 million for economic recovery. Additional support includes monthly 10 kg rice rations, side dish allowances (Rp300,000–Rp450,000), housing construction, and Rp600,000 interim housing aid. Death benefits remain Rp15 million per victim and Rp5 million for severe injuries, distributed via local government data. Broader programs cover Rp200,000 monthly BLT and Rp900,000 extra over three months for 35 million families.
The Attorney General's Office attributes the floods partly to land-use changes by 27 palm oil and mining companies. The Forest and Mining Area Enforcement Task Force has imposed Rp6.62 trillion in fines, aiding Finance Minister Purbaya Yudha Sadewa's efforts to keep the budget deficit below 3% of GDP.
Volunteers from BSMI and MIND ID continue logistics distribution and recovery aid. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka urged prayers for victims in his Christmas message, while Jakarta canceled New Year's fireworks to collect donations.
