Green transition board holds inaugural meeting at LSE

The High-Level Empowered Board on Green Transition held its first meeting on Friday at the London School of Economics during London Climate Action Week 2026. Chaired by N.K. Singh, the board focuses on mobilising climate finance for emerging economies. COP30 president André Corrêa do Lago also highlighted India's role in upcoming implementation roadmaps.

The board was announced at the Raisina Dialogue earlier this year and is tasked with recommendations on climate finance, multilateral development bank reforms, and India's path to 2,500 GW of clean energy by 2047 and net-zero emissions by 2070. Its secretariat is at the Observer Research Foundation Middle East.

N.K. Singh said after the meeting that the global climate debate has moved from targets to delivery. He noted the central challenge is to mobilise capital at speed and scale for emerging and developing economies.

COP30 president André Corrêa do Lago announced three key implementation roadmaps to be released by November. These cover the $1.3 trillion annual climate finance target, transitioning away from fossil fuels, and ending deforestation by 2030, with India essential to all three.

The panel also included Lord Nicholas Stern and UK Special Representative Rachel Kyte. The board will hold quarterly workshops through March 2027.
