Health ministry reports 95.8 percent of adults lack physical activity in CKG

The Health Ministry states that 50.5 million people have participated in the Free Health Check (CKG) program as of late October 2025. A staggering 95.8 percent of adult participants lack sufficient physical activity, signaling a major threat from non-communicable diseases. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin emphasized the need to prioritize healthy lifestyles.

In Jakarta on Tuesday, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin revealed that the Free Health Check (CKG) program has reached 50.5 million participants, comprising 34.3 million for general CKG and 16.2 million for school CKG. "Achieving over 50.5 million participants is a significant milestone for national health efforts. However, the CKG data also serves as a serious warning that physical activity and healthy living must become a shared priority," he said.

Among adults, lack of physical activity stands at 95.8 percent, followed by dental caries at 41.9 percent, central obesity at 32.9 percent, and overweight and obesity at 24.4 percent. "These findings confirm that non-communicable diseases remain a primary threat to the productive age group," Budi stated. The CKG program is designed as a strategic tool for early detection and management of diseases to prevent severe complications.

"This program is not just about the number of participants, but how we use the results to strengthen health policies, services, and community interventions," he added. Similar issues appear across age groups: newborns face a 18.6 percent risk of biliary tract abnormalities, 6.1 percent low birth weight, and 5.5 percent critical congenital heart disease. Toddlers and preschoolers show unhealthy teeth at 31.5 percent, stunting at 5.3 percent, and wasting at 3.8 percent.

Adolescents and students exhibit 60.1 percent lack of physical activity, 50.3 percent dental caries, and 27.2 percent anemia. Elderly participants record 96.7 percent lack of physical activity and 37.7 percent hypertension. Budi noted that CKG results will bolster health policies and healthy lifestyle promotion. "We want the public not only to recover from illness but to sustain their health long-term," he said. He appreciated the collaboration of medical personnel, health workers, puskesmas, and local governments in the program's success.
