IM Renato Terry claimed victory in the Bullet Brawl on April 11, 2026, after a dramatic sprint past GM Jose Martinez. The pair were tied for much of the event until Terry's 10-game winning streak secured the top spot. Terry pocketed $400 for his second consecutive title.
IM Renato Terry surged to the lead in the latter stages of the two-hour, 1+0 bullet arena on Chess.com. Starting 11 points behind before the breakaway, Terry posted an impressive 16-out-of-17 score in his final stretch. Key wins came against GMs Pranav Venkatesh, Arjun Erigaisi, Parham Maghsoodloo, Tuan Minh Le, and Cristobal Henriquez Villagra, plus IM Yoseph Taher, propelling him ahead of Martinez, who had led the chasing pack earlier with strong performances in complex positions, including against Venkatesh. GM Jose Martinez finished second and earned $250, followed by GM Arjun Erigaisi in third with $150 and GM Oleksandr Bortnyk in fourth with $100. Greek FM Anastasia Avramidou took the $100 best women's prize. The event drew 133 titled players, including five rated over 3200: Bortnyk, Martinez, Terry, Erigaisi, and Venkatesh. A highlight was 15-year-old FM Bryan Enming Lin's early dominance, topping the leaderboard two-thirds through after brilliancies against Venkatesh and Erigaisi, but four straight losses dropped him to 10th. Terry now has three Bullet Brawl wins, joining nine players with that mark. The weekly $1,000 prize fund series continues April 18 at 12 p.m. ET.
