Jim Burman Englund catches giant pike in Rickleån

Jim Burman Englund, 43, received an unexpected catch during a fishing trip in Rickleån in Västerbotten. He landed a pike measuring 132 centimeters after a fight lasting over 20 minutes.

Jim Burman Englund and a friend were out on a boat to fish for perch as a first trip of the season. Instead he first thought he had a bottom snag before it turned out to be a large pike.

The fight lasted over 20 minutes before the friend helped pull the fish into the boat. The pike measured 132 centimeters but the weight could not be confirmed because the scale did not work.

Jim estimates the weight at around 17 kilograms. He released the pike back into the river. The catch became emotional as it reminded him of his late father who sparked his interest in fishing.
