KDE Plasma 6.7 introduces rounded highlights and UI refinements

KDE developers are advancing Plasma 6.7 with visual and functional updates following the Plasma 6.6 release. Key changes include rounded selection highlights in Breeze applications and simplified networking configurations. Additional features enhance user permissions and calendar support.

The KDE Plasma desktop environment is progressing toward version 6.7, building on the recently released Plasma 6.6. Developers have introduced rounded selection highlights in the Breeze theme for QtWidgets-based applications, such as Dolphin, Okular, and KMail. These updates make the highlights rounder, aligning them with the existing rounded list highlights in QtQuick-based components, menus, and other elements. This change promotes visual consistency across the interface and lays groundwork for the forthcoming Union styling system, an internal theming framework for Plasma.

In networking, the OpenVPN configuration interface now reveals additional settings supported by its backend. The previously separate tabs for Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Security in Network Connections have been combined into a single page, streamlining the setup process.

System Settings has gained a new button on the Application Permissions page, allowing users to revoke all active screen-casting sessions simultaneously rather than handling them one by one. The Kickoff application launcher now offers better feedback by briefly flashing the Favorites category when an app is marked as a favorite. Notifications have been updated with refreshed text and icons for improved clarity.

The Digital Clock widget in Plasma 6.7 now supports the Vietnamese lunar calendar, expanding its utility for users in relevant regions.

Development on Plasma 6.7 continues actively, with further enhancements expected before its final release. Prior to that, the 6.6 series will see five more maintenance updates, reaching version 6.6.6. The current version is 6.6.1, and 6.6.2 is set for March 3.
