Lalamove and EY join forces on Hong Kong low-altitude economy

Hong Kong delivery company Lalamove and professional services firm EY have partnered to develop drone-based transport solutions. The initiative forms part of Hong Kong's regulatory sandbox for low-altitude economy projects. It involves drones from Ningbo-based Yixin Smart Technology Company.

Lalamove and EY announced their collaboration on July 18. The partnership will combine Lalamove's logistics platform with EY's expertise in planning, business modelling, risk advisory, governance, and tax and customs advisory.

The project uses drones capable of carrying packages up to 4.5kg over distances of 12km to 18km. These devices are participating in the government's regulatory sandbox for low-altitude test flights.

The Lalamove-EY team-up is one of 38 pilot projects approved under the scheme. The government has received 72 applications to date.

A Lalamove spokesman said: “Our driver partners remain the irreplaceable backbone of Lalamove’s operations.”
