Louise Lasser, Mary Hartman star, dies at 87

Louise Lasser, best known for her role in the comedy series Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, died on July 6 at age 87.

Lasser passed away of natural causes at her home on the Upper East Side of New York City, according to her friend Susan Charlotte. Former co-star Claudia Lamb announced the news on Bluesky, writing that she was stunned and grieving the loss of the actress who created the character Mary Hartman.

Lasser starred in the syndicated parody of daytime soap operas that premiered in 1976 and ran for two seasons. She appeared in earlier television shows including The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Bob Newhart Show.

She was married to filmmaker Woody Allen from 1966 to 1970 and acted in several of his films such as Take the Money and Run and Bananas. Later credits included guest roles on Girls and It's a Living.
