Following Expressen's revelations of antisemitism and terror sympathies among Left Party candidates, 22 people have been removed from election lists. The Social Democrats' leader stresses the need for swift action.
Expressen has examined the Left Party's election lists ahead of this autumn's vote and found that 25 candidates have expressed support for terror or spread antisemitism. Of these, 22 have now been removed from the lists or chosen to withdraw. Social Democrats' leader Magdalena Andersson says the information is very serious. She argues that antisemitism has no place in Swedish politics and that the Left Party is acting forcefully. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has called for an independent review of the party. He believes the revelations raise questions about fitness to govern. Trade Minister Benjamin Dousa has also called the Left Party dangerous in a potential government.
