A man in his 40s has died in a workplace accident in Landskrona harbor on Sunday. The incident was caused by falling material at the company Öresund Drydocks, and police have launched a preliminary investigation into work environment crime and causing another's death.
The accident occurred around 11 a.m. in the Landskrona harbor area, specifically in one of the workshops at Öresund Drydocks. The alarm to the police came in at 11:04 a.m., and rescue services, ambulance, and police were dispatched to the scene. According to initial reports, the man was hit by an object during work.
By 8 p.m., police announced that the man had died and that relatives had been notified. A preliminary investigation into work environment crime and causing another's death has been initiated. Police technicians are examining the area, and witness interviews are ongoing, according to Kaveh van der Knaap Keivan, duty officer at police in Helsingborg.
The company Öresund Drydocks confirmed the incident in the evening: “We had an accident today with a very tragic outcome where a person died in connection with work in one of our workshops. The rescue services were quickly on site, but unfortunately, the person's life could not be saved.”
Anders Larsson from the company explained: “It is falling material that led to this accident. The police are conducting their investigation, so I cannot say more than that.” To handle the event, the company's crisis group has been engaged, with support from the municipality's crisis group and a priest on site for those affected.
