Manchester United have signed midfielder Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £35 million on a five-year deal. The Belgium international described the move as the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition.
Tielemans completed the transfer after the club activated his release clause. The 29-year-old arrived from Aston Villa following three seasons there and prior spells at Leicester City and Monaco.
He has won 90 caps for Belgium and helped the team reach the World Cup quarter-finals. His career highlights include scoring the winning goal in the 2021 FA Cup final for Leicester and winning the Europa League with Villa.
Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox praised Tielemans as one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders over the past seven years. The player said joining the club feels incredible and marks years of dedication since he first fell in love with football.
