Skydance Games has announced another delay for its upcoming action-adventure title, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, pushing the release beyond the previously targeted early 2026 window with no new date set. The game features Captain America and Black Panther teaming up during World War II. This marks the second postponement for the project led by Uncharted creator Amy Hennig.

Announcement Details

On November 6, 2025, Skydance Games shared the update via X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring it meets the level of quality that our team, players, and fans expect.” The studio explained that to fully realize its vision, the release window is shifting beyond early 2026. Originally slated for holiday 2025, the game was first delayed in May 2025 to allow for additional polish.

Game Background

Developed by Skydance New Media, founded in 2019, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is the studio's debut title. Amy Hennig, known for her work on the Uncharted series, is directing and writing the game. Set in Nazi-occupied Paris during World War II, it draws from the comic series Captain America/Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers and expands to locations like Wakanda.

Players control four characters: Steve Rogers (Captain America), Azzuri (Black Panther), Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy chief. The action-adventure is built on Unreal Engine 5. The project was first confirmed in 2021, teased at the 2022 D23 Expo, and showcased in a full trailer in 2024, highlighting its cinematic style but without gameplay footage yet.

This delay comes amid challenges in the industry, including the cancellation of another Black Panther game by EA. Skydance aims to deliver a high-quality experience, though fans await more details on when it might arrive.
