Mercado Pago and Pro Mujer boost financial digitalization for women entrepreneurs

Mercado Pago and Pro Mujer announced the 2025 edition of the “Emprende Pro Mujer” program, aimed at strengthening financial inclusion and digitalization for women entrepreneurs in Mexico State, Jalisco, and Nuevo León. The initiative will benefit over 400 women through hybrid training, mentorship, and seed capital access. It seeks to drive business growth and sustainability using digital tools.

The 2025 “Emprende Pro Mujer” program targets women who already run a business or are consolidating one. It provides a hybrid model including business management training, personalized mentorship, and a digital community for sharing experiences and building support networks.

Over six weeks in each of the three states, more than 400 participants will receive training and the chance to access $10,000 pesos in seed capital. Terminals from Mercado Pago will also be distributed to enable digital payments and enhance sales management.

“In Mercado Pago, we believe that access to digital and financial tools is key to boosting the economic development of women and their communities. This program allows us to accompany them on their entrepreneurial journey, providing the skills and confidence needed to grow their businesses,” stated Adriana Prieto, Sustainability Leader at Mercado Pago Mexico.

“Access to knowledge, support networks, and capital can transform a woman’s trajectory. Thanks to the alliance with Mercado Pago, we continue expanding this impact and bringing concrete tools to more entrepreneurs in different regions of the country,” highlighted Vania Noguera, Project Manager for Emprende Pro Mujer.

In the past two years, Mercado Pago has provided free hybrid training to over 5,400 women in Latin America, including 1,500 in Mexico. On the Emprende Pro Mujer site, more than 1,300 Mexican entrepreneurs have graduated this year, enhancing their financial and digital knowledge. Results indicate that 65% increased sales, 53% improved expense management, 96% adopted saving habits, and 93% developed new soft skills for leadership.

This partnership reaffirms the commitment to women's economic autonomy and digital inclusion, contributing to community development.
