A monument now stands in Addis Ababa honoring six prominent Ethiopian artists for their contributions to the country. The figures include singer Tilahun Gessesse, writer Sebhat Gebre Egziabher, poet and playwright Tsegaye Gebremedhin, singer Ali Birra, singer Hachalu Hundessa and singer Mahmoud Ahmed.

Tilahun Gessesse, known as the King of Ethiopian Music, received an honorary doctorate from Addis Ababa University. Sebhat Gebre Egziabher is recognized for short stories such as Fever and After the Night. Tsegaye Gebremedhin won international acclaim for his poetry on equality and freedom.

Ali Birra advanced Oromo music and language through his songs. Hachalu Hundessa used music to highlight Oromo history and rights. Mahmoud Ahmed gained popularity with his song Peace, which promotes national unity. The monument serves as a lasting record of their work in building cultural pride and social cohesion.
