Mumbai University issues revised M.Com. semester I results after student protests

Mumbai University issued revised results for Masters of Commerce (M.Com.) semester I on Tuesday after students protested over discrepancies. Complaints included incorrect mark calculations and wrongful absentee markings despite attendance proofs.

On Tuesday, students protested outside Mumbai University's Centre for Distance and Online Learning (CDOE) over errors in the M.Com. semester I results. They alleged incorrectly calculated marks and being marked absent for papers they attended, backed by hall tickets signed by invigilators.

One protesting student said, “We also had proof to show that we appeared for the paper as hall-ticket had signature of the invigilators.”

A university official stated that following the protests, a revised result was declared and marksheets will be issued accordingly.

The episode comes amid scrutiny from a recent question paper leak. Santosh Gangurde, state general secretary of Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena, said, “Such recurring incidents raise serious questions about the efficiency of the university administration and highlight the urgent need for reforms to safeguard students academic interests.”
