Javier Ortega Smith, expelled from Vox but still Madrid City Council spokesperson, has shared a letter sent to the party's National Executive Committee. He accuses the leadership of leaks and makes a tax authority insinuation to secretary general Ignacio Garriga.
Three days ago, Javier Ortega Smith wrote a four-page letter to Vox's National Executive Committee (CEN), the top body led by Santiago Abascal. Smith, expelled from the party on March 6 after a process started on December 22, refuses to accept the decision and remains Vox spokesperson in Madrid City Council. He was previously secretary general from 2016 to 2022. In the letter, shared on his X profile, he denounces alleged reports leaked by the leadership to an internal WhatsApp group containing five emails drafted by him. “It is evident that the majority did not read the report since my expulsion was voted in less than two minutes”, he writes. He adds: “I cannot accept that the 4 who have hijacked a political project in service of Spaniards, turning it into their golden goose, give lessons”. To current secretary general Ignacio Garriga, he states: “I hope your next leak is the model 347”, referring to the tax form for third-party operations over 3,005.06 euros, insinuating possible dealings. Smith concludes: “For my part, I will continue as affiliate, Madrid City Council spokesperson and national deputy, defending that silenced Spain”. The letter follows his expulsion and highlights internal Vox tensions.
