Pagasa forecasts rains from ITCZ and easterlies across Philippines on Tuesday

Following Monday's conditions, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the Intertropical Convergence Zone, easterlies, and localized thunderstorms will bring rains across the country on Tuesday.

The ITCZ continues to affect southern Mindanao while easterlies prevail over the Visayas and localized thunderstorms impact Luzon, according to the latest Pagasa forecast.

Weather specialist Veronica Torres noted that these conditions are expected to continue at least in the next three to five days. Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast for Tuesday in several areas.

The ITCZ will bring overcast skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Soccsksargen, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.

The easterlies will affect Visayas and the rest of Mindanao with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Pagasa reported no low pressure area or tropical cyclone currently being monitored within or near the country’s area of responsibility.

The Philippine weather bureau on Tuesday said it is tracking two low-pressure areas that are not expected to develop into tropical cyclones or bring direct effects to the country.

The Intertropical Convergence Zone is forecast to bring cloudy skies and scattered rains with thunderstorms to parts of southern Mindanao on Monday, May 18, according to Pagasa.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) expects a tropical cyclone to form this April, potentially entering the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) and making landfall, weather specialist Benison Estareja said.

Hong Kong's Observatory warned on Friday of thunderstorms and showers on Saturday, with unsettled weather persisting through the rest of the Easter holiday. A trough of low pressure will bring occasional showers, heavier at times, and fast-moving thunderstorms to the Guangdong coast. Sunday will be mainly cloudy with windy conditions on high ground and a few squally thunderstorms.
