Patricia Voto reimagines upper east side showroom as home

Fashion designer Patricia Voto has refreshed her combined showroom and residence on Manhattan's Upper East Side with help from interior designer Britt Zunino of Studio DB. The space on East 70th Street now features layered fabrics, custom colors, and collected furnishings that emphasize comfort and client interaction. The update comes after five years of Voto living and working in the apartment.

Voto creates one-of-a-kind dresses using bolts of Italian brocade, jacquards, and florals often sourced as deadstock from mills supplying brands like Oscar de la Renta and Prada. Clients visit for fittings in the apartment, which functions as both workspace and living quarters. The redesign began when Voto told Zunino she felt bored with the space after five years there. Zunino, who had previously commissioned a dress from Voto, incorporated bold patterns and textures while preserving elements like a fabric swatch wall. The entry features geometric brocade, while the main room has powdery blush walls and a shimmering gold ceiling wallpaper. A hand-painted mural covers the bathroom, and the bedroom remains quieter in mossy green tones. Voto resets the apartment each morning before clients arrive, maintaining its lived-in feel. She notes that many visitors assume she lives nearby rather than in the space itself.
