On Tuesday at around 12:35 p.m., a 34-year-old man unlawfully entered the Kansai University Kindergarten in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, and was arrested on the spot for suspicion of unlawful entry. According to police, the man entered a classroom and wrapped his arms around a female staff member from behind. Officers rushed to the scene following a report from the staff and arrested him there.
During questioning, the suspect stated that he had been using marijuana. He made incoherent statements at the time of his arrest, prompting police to investigate drug use through methods including urine testing. No children were present in the classroom at the time, so there were no injuries.
The incident highlights concerns over security at educational facilities for young children. Police are continuing to probe the man's motives and background.
