Building on initial recovery announcements, President Prabowo Subianto forms a multi-ministry task force with Rp60 trillion from APBN efficiencies to tackle land and funding issues in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. Updates include secured food supplies and plans to restore damaged rice fields.
Following the initial allocation of APBN efficiency funds and infrastructure recovery updates from the December 15, 2025, Full Cabinet Meeting, President Prabowo Subianto announced a new cross-ministry reconstruction task force to overcome land acquisition and funding barriers in Sumatra's disaster-hit regions.
The task force targets settlements, infrastructure, and social facilities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, with full central government regulatory and budgetary support. Prabowo urged swift action: "There should be no excuses about land acquisition. Now is the time to work hard."
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudha Sadewa confirmed Rp60 trillion available from unabsorbed budgets (Rp4.5 trillion returned by end-2025). Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman reported ample food reserves: 44,000 tons of rice aid distributed, 120,000 tons in stock (three times needs), plus 6,000 tons of cooking oil in Rp1 trillion total aid. Restoration of 70,000 hectares of damaged rice fields begins January 2026, earning cabinet applause.
